Why is this award important?
The 2026 AproXima-te Award aims to promote more local, humane and effective responses, capable of reducing inequalities in access to healthcare and ensuring that no sex worker is excluded for geographical, social or structural reasons.
We believe in models of care that transcend boundaries — physical, institutional and symbolic — and which place autonomy, dignity and human rights at the centre.
Applying for this award is an opportunity to turn ideas into action, to strengthen or expand responses on the ground, and to contribute to more innovative and sustainable solutions. It is also a way of raising the profile of the work already carried out by organisations and communities, maximising impact and creating the conditions to reach those who often remain outside formal support systems.
More than just funding, this award is an incentive for social innovation and for building fairer, more accessible and more effective responses.
Who is eligible to apply for the 1st Prize?
Civil society organisations or legally constituted groups, operating at local or regional level, which carry out direct work with people engaged in sex work on the mainland or in the autonomous regions, and which are able to issue invoices, are eligible to apply for the AproXima-te Award.
Who is not eligible to apply?
Entities belonging to the National Health Service (SNS), the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), the Central Administration of the Health System (ACSS), the Regional Health Administrations (ARS), the Azores Regional Health Directorate and the Madeira Regional Health Secretariat are excluded.
